Over the past three decades, music has created its own galaxy of star performers who have influenced the music and vocal style of Andy Madson; Frank Sinatra, James Brown, Elvis, The Beatles and the Rolling Stones, to name a few. Music emulation, like photography, survives as potent visual and audio records of those decades and the style that Madson prefers to create.

“Imprint the style and remember the image,” Madson states. This seasoned professional delivers the rock ‘n’ roll punch that has supported numerous genres of music with his timeless ability to provide spot-on vocal performances. Madson is not a new voice to the music scene; he is well known and uses his vast experience to bring life to each song and its full musical potential.

Freeze frame to 1969 with his beginnings in church choir; and then landing his first recording on a local radio station at age 19 in 1976. He never looked back. Growing up prior to the Internet and MTV generation, Madson spent a lot of time listening to the hit-makers of his day and multiple styles of music. He collected ’45 rpm records instead of baseball cards like most kids his age; Madson examined their “star” power. He had a huge admiration for James Brown withhis endless energy and control of the stage. Madson incorporates all this acquired knowledge into his show to create a performance that is real, not manufactured. While most of his years on stage have been in rock ‘n’ roll bands, Madson can easily bring any style to “the show” and make it his own. He has played in numerous bands that have opened acts for headliners that represent many different periods of rock. Musical groups such as Steppenwolf (‘60s), Black Oak Arkansas (‘70s), John Cougar (‘80s) and Great White (‘90s). Madson draws from the memories of those shows to understand why the fans come to see them. “It’s about giving people what they want, a show and experience to bring everything to the stage.”
A chronological history of Madson’s musical style lists as follows:

1976- Ozone: A start into the world of rock ‘n’ roll vocals and performances recording originals.

1980- Medusa: Qualified for KGON “Homegrown” album and made the finals and received airplay.

1982-Fire Eye: One of the top rock bands in the Portland music scene.

1989-Powerlock: Cover and original rock six-piece band with first show at Starry Night (Roseland).

1993- Garden of Eden: The continuation of heavy metal and hard rock, opening for many national acts.

2008- Rolling Tones: The voice of “Mick,” Madson continues to perform the best of the Rolling Stones in music, showmanship and style.

2010-MADSON His show, his way, the best in his rock ‘n’ roll style and non-stop energy.

Note: The first 100 days since the creation of MADSON, he has performed over 10 shows. Each one has set lists in excess of 40 songs per show, utilizing his chameleon style of performing diverse genres of music from heavy metal, ballad, rock, blues, funk and the unforgettable British style that is “Mick.”

Madson is a consummate performer, creating a fury of live entertainment with his wireless microphone, jumping on bar tops to capture the attention of the crowd. He engages the audience with his kind and direct interaction and welcomes everyone to his “party.”

Madson is a dead ringer for his British rendition of Mick Jagger from the Rolling Stones. He continues the invasion of pop, rock and blues music of the ‘60s that is as popular today as ever. This is the art of entertainment, which has lead to the creation of Madson. His latest endeavor and namesake group MADSON has solidified him within the Portland music scene as a leader in entertainment while keeping his title as the “Gentleman” of the music scene vibe alive and well. He believes in the power of lyrics and their impact for change in the world.

Madson’s long term-career goals include studio time where he will draw from his vast catalog of original material. Snippets of titles include Hold On, and Lonely Woman, a heartfelt power rock ballad. Ongoing performances, a record contract and touring are on the top of his wish list as he continues his musical journey!

Madson realizes the fact, “It is gratifying that giving back now is the mission of my music. I have sung with the best musicians around and am humbled to be collaborating on new projects.”
The current lineup includes Dave Nelson, guitar; Ken Goldstein, bass; Rick Rain, drums and Jack Codron, keyboards. ”A singer is nothing without his bandmates,” Madson states proudly. The greatest gift a singer can have is a “recognizable voice, unique and conversational all at once.” Check him out and you will understand why the marquee says only one word, MADSON.
